FAQ

How much sample material do I need to submit?

The required quantities vary somewhat for the different analyses. For cannabinoid analysis (CBD, THC, etc.), we require:

  • 5-10 g of dried flower, various buds (we measure an average)
  • 3-5 g extract
  • 3-5 ml oil
  • 0.5-1 g isolate

The material must be provided in a condition that is ready for sale.

What do I need to do to get my product analysed for THC?

Go to ‘Order’ and follow the instructions. In the online order form, you can enter the name of your sample, tick the desired analysis, and add the analysis order to the shopping basket. For additional samples, simply repeat the process.

Do I require certified analyses?

The legally required self-monitoring in Switzerland, which is mandatory for producers of food and tobacco substitute products, does not need to be performed in a regulated environment. In other words: no, analyses from certified or accredited laboratories are not required in order to place food products or tobacco substitute products on the market legally in Switzerland. Certified or accredited analyses of this kind are only necessary when explicitly required by government entities in Switzerland or abroad.

Are Guttentag Solutions GmbH and cbd-test.ch accredited or certified?

We carry out our work professionally and according to the state of the art in science and technology. We are ISO 9001: 2015-certified, bear the Swiss Certified Cannabis (SCC) label, and already work in accordance with ISO 17025, for which we are on the path towards accreditation.

What do I need a nicotine analysis for?

The Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) requires these analyses for the notification of tobacco substitute products. Because the product is a tobacco substitute, the analysis is intended to prove that the sample material is not tobacco.

What happens when the values are too high?

Nothing, as far as we are concerned. Once the analysis is complete, the samples are professionally disposed of.

Do you analyse oils, extracts, pollinates or horse feed?

Yes, we analyse all matrices. If we do not succeed in obtaining a result for the sample for analytical reasons, you do not have to pay for the analysis.

What is a ratio analysis/mother plant analysis and what is it used for?

The ratio analysis/mother plant analysis reveals the cannabinoid profile of a plant. The cannabinoid profile gives the ratio of the various cannabinoids to one another. This can already be identified from the leaves of a cutting or its mother plant. Based on this, it is possible to accelerate breeding processes or remove undesired varieties in a timely manner during cultivation. Typically, the analysis explores the ratio of CBD to THC, i.e. CBD/THC. A distinction is made between three different plant types:

  • Plants with CBD/THC = 0-0.5:
The plant will produce large quantities of THC, with an extremely high likelihood of prohibited concentrations.
  • Plants with CBD/THC = 0.5-3:
The plant will produce CBD and THC in approximately the same quantities. These plants typically exceed the 1% w/w limit.
  • Plants with CBD/THC = 20-34:
These are typical CBD plants, which are extremely unlikely to exceed the 1% w/w limit. For a CBD/THC ratio of 5–14, a mixture of the different plant types listed above can be assumed.

How can I verify whether a report is authentic or not?

To do this, visit our "Authenticate Report" page.

Can I change or modify a report myself?

In other words, can I change the addressee, black out the addressee, enter a different sample name, or change the results? This is not permitted under any circumstances. Modifying or copying our reports, or using any parts of the design for reports you have compiled yourself, constitutes document forgery and is therefore a criminal act. We are therefore obliged to file a police report if we encounter any reports that have been forged or even slightly modified.

We offer modifications of reports for a small fee. This can allow other addressees or other sample names to be added to an existing report. But only by us and only with the consent of the original customer.
